- You can introduce this meal for your baby around 11 month or so
- This is a nutritious meal, with a good calorie package
- This was my daughter’s favorite when she was around 1 year old
Ingredients
- Par boiled rice – 1/3cup
- Greens – 1/3 cup
- Mixed veggies – 1/3cup
- Pasiparuppu/moong dhal – 1 tblsp
- Asafoetida/perungayam – a pinch
- Shallot/small onion – 1 no
- Garlic – 1 small pod
- Tomato – 1 slice
- Turmeric powder – a pinch
- Seeragam/cumin seeds – a pinch
- Salt – a pinch
- Water – as req
Procedure
- Wash rice, veggies, greens and moong dhal/pasiparuppu thoroughly and add cumin seeds, onion, garlic, tomato, asafoetida/perungayam and turmeric powder
- Add water as req. and bring to it boil
- Once the rice mix is cooked a little mushy, then add the GREENS along with a pinch of salt
- The complete baby meal is ready to be served now
Serving suggestion
- Since this is your baby’s solid meal food, you can start it with a little thin consistency, but not too liquid
- gradually increases your feeding level and consistency
- you can add a tsp of ghee too
- Feed your baby when the food is warm
Note
- It is always best to prepare baby food fresh and feed your baby, than preparing and storing/refrigerating it
- You can use mathu/masher for making the food little creamy. If you do not have a masher, you can do a quick pulse run using your mixie
- Always wash the veggies/greens thoroughly and use them
- Mixed veggies (carrot/beetroot/potato) – do not overload with more number of veggies; initially, you can start with one and later can increase based on your baby’s taste
- I suggest SPINACH/PASALA Keerai/PALAK as the very first greens for your baby. Spinach has very good nutrients and is easy to digest as well
- Also I would always suggest to use moong dhal/pasiparuppu for your little one as this is rich in proteins and helps for easy digestion
