FoolProof Instant Idiyappam

Ingredients:

  • Store bought idiyappam flour – 1 cup
  • Water – 2 ½ cups
  • Salt – as req
  • Coconut oil – 3 tsp

 

Procedure:

  • In a sauce pan (non-stick/heavy bottomed pan preferable) add the idiyappam flour, salt, measured water and 3 tsp of coconut oil. mix well without any lumps

  • Now turn on the heat and stir under medium flame (stir constantly)
  • Within 2-3 mins, the batter starts cooking and formed a mass pliable dough (ref pic)

  • Turn off the heat and Cover it with a lid;
  • Prepare the idiyappam making pot and grease the idiyappam plates with some oil
  • Now place the idiyappam aachu into the idiyappam maker/ regular murukku maker and fill the dough into it (ref pic)

  • Now starts squeezing the idiyappam into the respective mold (ref pic)

  • Steam it for about for 5-7 mins or until the idiyappam turns glossy (max 7 mins)
  • Repeat the same process for the remaining dough
  • The simple, quick, easy NO KNEAD “FOOLPROOF INSTANT IDIYAPPAMS” are ready to serve.

  • Serve hot with some freshly squeezed coconut milk or with some spicy coconut kurma.

NOTE/TIP:

  • You no need to knead the dough
  • Depends on your rice flour brand the water measurement may vary
  • The good amount of oil and water will helps to keep the idiyappams soft and moist
