Verkadalai chutney

Verkadalai/ nilakadalai/ Peanut Chutney. Very spicy and unique chutney. It goes well with hot Idlis.

Ingredients:

  • Peanuts                     –          ½ cup
  • Garlic                          –          5-8 nos
  • Dry red chili          –          4 nos
  • Gingelly oil              –          3 tblsp
  • Jaggery                      –          1 inch (optional)
  • Salt                             –          as req
  • Water                        –          1 tblsp

Procedure:

  • Dry roast the peanuts and Cool completely
  • In a mixie jar add all the ingredients except oil
  • Grind it smoothly with a tblsp of water, add some gingelly oil if req.
  • Serve with some hot idlis with a generous amount of gingelly oil

NOTE/ TIP:

  • The garlic and red chili are purely depends on your spice level
  • Adding less water and more gingelly oil helps to retain the original taste.
  • Jaggery will reduce the heat level.
