Who wants to taste the “original kovai Krishna sweets” mysore pak ?
Here is the south indian Ghee Delicacy. “MYSORE PAK”. Very easy to prepare and enjoy the lusciousness of the sweet.
Trust me it just MELTS in your mouth.
Ingredients:
- Chickpea flour – 1 cup
- Granulated sugar – 2 cups
- Water – 1 cup
- Ghee/ clarified butter – 2 cups
Procedure:
- Grease the mysore pak final tray with some ghee
- In a heavy bottomed pan add about 2tblsp of ghee, add a cup of chickpea flour. Roast until the nice aroma comes under medium-low flame.
- Transfer the flour, allow it to cool
- Add 2 cups granulated sugar with a cup of water. Bring it to boil
- Meanwhile melt the ghee/ clarified butter in a medium sauce pan, take another bowl add the chickpea flour and ghee about 1-1.25 cups or so, make it batter out of it without any lumps
- Once the sugar syrup attains the one string (take the syrup in between your thumb and index finger, if you separate your fingers you can able to see a thin sugar thread)
- Now it’s the time to add the chickpea-ghee batter, keep stirring.
- Stir constantly, add some more ghee towards the edges of the pan
- it takes about 10-15mins, once you can able to collect the mysore pak,then transfer it into the greased tray
- cool completely and cut into pieces and njoy the richness of Ghee Sweet “MYSORE PAK”
NOTE/TIP:
- If you are very particular about ghee, then add some light cooking oil and ghee (HALF N HALF) proportion.
- One string consistency is one of the important step
- Mixing the roasted flour into the melted ghee really helps to achieve the consistency
