Red Chutney

SIGNATURE RED CHUTNEY:

 Ingredients: 

  • Onion – 2 nos
  • Dry Red chili – 4 no
  • Tomato – 2 nos
  • Split chick pea/ kadalaparuppu – 1 tsp
  • Grated coconut – 1 tblsp
  • Salt – as req
  • Water – as req

Tempering:

  • Mustard seeds – ¼ tsp
  • Dry Red chili – 1 no
  • Urad dhal – ½ tsp
  • Gingelly oil – 1.5 tblsp
  • Curry leaves – 1 sprig

 Procedure:

  • In a kadai add a tblsp of gingelly oil, add split chickpea, dry red chili, chopped onion, tomato saute for a while, and then add coconut and salt. Saute for about 3-4 mins. Cool completely
  • In a small mixie jar add the roasted ingredients, Grind it smoothly( add water as req)
  • Transfer into a bowl, meanwhile place a small kadai add some gingelly oil, once the oil get hot add mustard seeds and urad dhal, let it splutter now add the broken red chilies and curry leaves and pour the mixture into the chutney. Enjoy with hot idlis/ dosai/ vadai.
