Arisi Keerai Kanji

Arisi keerai kanji / Rice greens porridge

  • You can introduce this kanji at 9 months or so
  • Spinach/pasalai keerai/palak is loaded with tons of nutrients. This is one of the super healthy dark leafy greens.

Ingredients

  • Par boiled rice                    – 1/3cup
  • Greens                                   – 1/3 cup
  • Seeragam/cumin seeds – a pinch
  • Garlic                                      – 1 small pod
  • Salt                                           – a pinch
  • Water                                     – as req.

Procedure

  • Wash rice thoroughly and add cumin seeds; and add water as req. and bring to it boil
  • Once the rice is cooked little mushy, then add the GREENS along with a pinch of salt
  • Within 3-4 minutes, the Arisi keerai kanji is ready to be served
  • If you would like the food to be a little creamy, use mathu/masher

Serving Suggestion

  • Since this is your baby’s solid meal food, you can start it with a little thin consistency, but not too liquid
  • gradually increases your feeding level and consistency
  • you can add a tsp of ghee too
  • Feed your baby when the food is warm
  • This kanji have keerai/greens and this might cause indigestion for your baby for the first few times. But don’t worry, the cumin and garlic will soothes your little baby’s tummy and your baby will get used to the food sooner
