Rava Paal Pongal

//sooji milk pongal//

Ingredients:

  • Rava/ sooji – ½ cup
  • Warm Whole milk – ¼ cup
  • Hot water – ¾ cup
  • Salt – to taste
  • Cooking oil- 1 tblsp

 Tempering:

  • Ghee/ clarified butter – 1 tblsp
  • Cooking oil – 1 tblsp
  • Crushed black pepper – 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  • Asafetida – ½ tsp
  • Grated ginger – 1 tsp
  • Cashews – 2 tsp (broken)

Procedure:

  • Heat a pan and add the tempering oil and ghee; add the crushed black pepper, cumin seeds, grated ginger, broken cashew pieces and sauté it for about 1-2 mins on medium flame and transfer it into a small bowl
  • Now add the rava/ sooji in the same pan with a tblsp of oil and roast it for about 2-3 mins or until it get roasted
  • Add the warm milk and water with required amount of salt and stir well
  • Cover it with a lid and cook it for about 5-6 mins under medium-low flame
  • Turn off the flame and add the tempering mixture and mix well
  • The luscious, tasty and grainy “RAVA PAAL PONGAL” is ready to serve
