Homemade Garlic Bread

Ingredients:

Making Bread:

  • Bread flour – 1.5 cups
  • Salt – 1 tsp
  • Milk powder- 1 tsp (optional)
  • Whole milk (warm) – ¾ cup
  • Sugar – 1 tblsp
  • Instant yeast – ½ tsp

Garlic Bread: // for 3 slices//

  • Softened unsalted Butter – 1 tblsp
  • Extra virgin olive oil – 2 tsp
  • Salt – 1/8 tsp
  • Garlic – 4 cloves
  • Peppercorns – ½ tsp
  • Dried Rosemary – ½ tsp
  • Dried Oregano – ½ tsp

Procedure:

Making Bread:

  • Pre heat the oven to 375 degree F
  • Add the warm milk in a small bowl along with ½ tsp of instant yeast and sugar, stir well and keep aside. Let it sit for 5 mins.
  • In a stand mixer bowl, add the sieved bread flour, salt and milk powder. Mix well and add the yeast mixture, mix the dough using a spatula roughly and using the stand mixer, knead the dough for about 8-9 mins until the dough becomes soft and pliable.
  • Sprinkle some flour on the working surface and form the dough as a mass ball and keep it in a greased large bowl for proofing.
  • Cover the bowl with a plastic wrap and keep in a warm place to help to raise the dough double in size approx. 45-50 mins for 1st
  • After an hour, place the dough over a floured surface and roll the dough evenly about an inch thick (9×12) and roll up the rectangle, starting on the short end, into a very tight cylinder.
  • Now place the rolled dough into a 9 inch loaf pan and cover it with a plastic wrap and keep it in a warm place to help to raise the dough double in size approx. 45-50 mins for 2nd
  • Place the dough in pre-heated oven and bake it for about 40-45 mins, depends on your oven model. (insert a toothpick comes out clean for final test)
  • Remove the bread from the pan, cool completely before slicing.
  • Slice the bread with bread knife. Enjoy the bread as it is (or) it is perfect for garlic bread.

Making Garlic Bread:

  • In a small bowl, add the softened unsalted butter, salt, olive oil, dried rosemary and dried oregano.
  • Take some fresh garlic cloves along with whole black peppercorns in a small mortar-pestle, crush it well and add it into the butter mixture.
  • Now take a butter knife full of garlic mixture and spread both the sides of bread slice. Repeat the same process for the rest of the bread slices.
  • Place the bread slices gently into the preheated griddle pan; allow it toast for a min on each sides on a very medium flame.
  • The super-crunchy, garlicy, buttery “HOMEMADE GARLIC BREAD” is ready.
