Glazed Doughnut Holes

Doughnut (or)donut Holes/ Balls

What are doughnut holes?

These are small, bite sized doughnuts that were traditionally made from the dough taken from the center of the ring doughnuts. These holes are deep fried just like regular ones.

Ingredients:

  • Ap flour – 1 ½ cups + extra for rolling
  • Sugar – 1/3 cup
  • Baking powder – 1 tsp
  • Salt – 1 tsp
  • Eggs – 1
  • Plain Greek Yogurt – ½ cup
  • Cream cheese – 2 tblsp
  • Softened Butter – 2 tblsp
  • Vanilla essence – 1 tsp
  • Mild cooking oil – to deep fry

Procedure:

  • Heat the oil in wide frying pan
  • Sieve the All-purpose flour, baking powder, salt and keep aside.
  • In a wide mixing bowl, add the plain greek yogurt, cream cheese, softened butter, egg and vanilla essence. Mix well and add the sieved dry ingredients into the mixture. Mix thoroughly until it forms dough.
  • Place the dough over floured parchment paper and sprinkle more flour and cover it with another parchment paper and roll the dough evenly about ½ inch thick.
  • Use small round shape cutter, cut the dough and keep aside. (or)
  • Just make small balls out of it and dust off the excess flour on the doughnuts and place it gently into the pre heated oil. (do not over crowd the pan)
  • Allow it cook for about 2 mins on each side under medium-low flame.
  • Once the sizzle sounds off, take the doughnuts holes out and place it over any paper towel to drain out any excess oil.
  • The light and fluffy instant “DOUGHNUTS HOLES/BALLS” are ready. You can serve as it is or you can coat it with sugar glaze or cinnamon sugar for more flavor and taste.

GLAZED DOUGHNUTS HOLES:

Sugar glaze coating ingredients:

  • Powdered sugar – 1 cup
  • Milk – 1 tblsp
  • Lemon zest (or) vanilla essence – 1 tsp

Procedure:

  • In a mixing bowl, add the sieved powdered sugar along with milk and lemon zest. Mix well until smooth.
  • Now dip the doughnuts into the sugar glaze and keep them over a cooling rack under parchment lined baking sheet (collect the excess glaze)
  • Allow it to set and enjoy the super tasty “GLAZED DOUGHNUTS HOLES/BALLS”

CINNAMON SUGAR COATING:

Ingredients:

  • Fine sugar – ¼ cup
  • Cinnamon powder – 2 tblsp

Procedure:

  • In a mixing bowl, add the fine sugar and cinnamon powder. Mix well and toss the warm doughnuts into the mixture and keep them over a parchment paper.
  • The cinnamony, sugary, flavorful “CINNAMON-SUGAR coated DOUGHNUTS HOLES/BALLS” are ready to serve.
