Ingredients:
- Organic pineapple (roughly diced)– 3cups
- Organic red grapes – 2 cups
- Organic pomegranate – 1 cup
- Organic cranberry – 1 cup
- Organic dark brown sugar – 1 cup
- Organic lime juice – 1 tsp
Procedure:
- Puree all the fruits individually and strain ‘em using fruit strainer or you can even use juice exactor and keep aside.
- In a wide heavy bottomed sauce pan, pour all the juices at once and bring it to boil
- Allow it to cook for about 20 mins, slowly it started thickening at that add about a cup of dark brown sugar.
- Stir occasionally. At once stage the jam looks glossy and pretty thick, by the time add about a tsp of freshly squeezed lime juice and turn off the flame.
- Cool completely and store it in an air tight glass jar for weeks.
- Enjoy the luscious, fruity and tasty “Homemade MIXED FRUIT JAM-A COMPLETE ORGANIC JAM” with some freshly baked bread slice.
How to check the jam right consistency?
- Place one small plate into the freezer for about 10 mins. Now trickle some jam over the frozen plate, wait for few seconds. If it sets and feels like gel, then you are all set. (or)
- Take a spatula full of jam and hold it upwards and see how it runs down. If it hold the thick consistency and you are all set, if it is too runny then you need to cook furthermore.
NOTE/TIP:
- You can try this with regular fruits, no need to be organic. I have made this for my daughter and it turn out really well, so I wanted to this to share with you.
- Though we are adding citrus rich fruits, adding lime juice at the end helps to avoid crystallization and gives more life to the jam
- You can even add regular granulated sugar/ light brown sugar.
- You can even increase the ratio of cranberry and pomegranate, this will helps to clear any urinary infection and improve your heart health.
- Always use a wide, heavy bottomed pan for any kind of jam
- You can even add a pinch of salt along with the lime juice that will balance the sweet flavor.
