Ingredients:
- Besan flour/ kadalaimavu – ½ cup (heaped)
- Rice flour – ¼ cup
- Chopped onions/ shallot – ¼ cup
- Chopped chilies – 2 nos (medium)
- Chopped curry leaves – 1 tblsp
- Grated ginger – 1 tsp
- Roasted cumin powder – ½ tsp
- Asafetida – ½ tsp
- Baking soda – a pinch
- Salt – to taste
- Water – as req
- Cooking oil – to deep fry
Procedure:
- Heat some oil to deep fry.
- In a mixing bowl, add besan flour, rice flour, salt, chopped onions, curry leaves, green chilies, grated ginger, roasted cumin powder, asafetida and a pinch of baking soda. Mix together and add water little by little until you get the thick batter consistency.
- Now drop the pakodas evenly and allow it cook for about a min or so and flip it gently. Once the sizzle sounds off, take the soft and crispy pakodas from the oil and place over in the paper towel/ tissue.
- The pakodas are soft in the center and crisp on the outer side. A perfect snack for the winter season.
- The light and fluffy “MEDHU PAKODA” is ready to serve.
