BERRY-BANANA JAM
Berry-Banana jam, Sounds odd?
I had some ripe bananas and some fresh blueberries and strawberries in my kitchen. They were a week old after I had got them from the store; all were perishables, and I would have to just throw them away in few days time. Since we were traveling, I was certain we would not finish eating them; I wanted to increase their life span; so why not a jam? I tried it with the left over bananas and berries and the flavor was awesome.
My hubby used to eat a lot of mixed fruit jam (Kissan’s) when he was a bachelor. But after marriage, we never buy store jams….when I made this berry-banana jam, he really like it.
Very easy and simple recipe but a taste worthy jam. You must try this.
Ingredient
- Strawberries – 8 oz
- Blueberries – 1 pint
- Banana – 2 nos
- Granulated sugar – 3/4 cup
- Lemon juice – 1 tblsp
- Salt – a pinch
Procedure
- Step 1: Wash the berries thoroughly
- Step 2: Dice the strawberries and mash the bananas; keep the washed blueberries as it is
- Step 3: In a medium sauce pan add all the fruit along with required amount of sugar for about 20-30 mins
- Step 4: Stir frequently to avoid scorching
- Step 5: When the bubbles became smaller and the consistency of the JAM became thicker, your JAM is all set; now you can add the lemon juice and salt to avoid crystallization
