How to make idiyappam/kozhukattai/dumpling 

  • parboiled rice -1 cup

 Procedure

  • Wash the rice and dry it over a cotton cloth under room temperature
  • Grind well using a small mixie jar
  • Dry roast the rice flour until you get a nice aroma
  • Sieve the flour
  • Keep it in an air tighter container for a week period

Ingredients for idiyappam

 rice flour -1 cup

  • super-hot Water -1/2 cup or so
  • salt -as req

Procedure:

  • In a large bowl with a cup of rice flour add salt as req
  • pour half a cup of super-hot water into the rice salt mixture
  • you can see the rice flour became rice chunks ,don’t add too much of water,add water when it actually needs
  • use your hand for the final touches (be careful the rice mixture is now too hot,use your hand when it is bearable)
  • now the dough is ready to prepare idiyappam using idiyappam maker/mould
  • with the help of the idiyappam mould/maker, we can easily squeeze the idiyappam’s
  • grease your idli plates with coconut oil/ghee for more flavor
  • make the rice dough into cylindrical shape and place it into the idiyappam mould
  • start squeezing the dough into the greased idli plates until it reaches a complete circle
  • steam this idiyappam for about 8-12 mins
  • Idiyappam are ready to serve

Serving suggestion:

  • steamed food are always wonder to eat ,these food are simply delicious, very easy to digest and more filling food too
  • you can serve this with coconut milk/kurma/any kind of side dish to the elders
  • Feed your baby with a cup of milk (simply delicious food)
