Jeerana Podi

Jeerana Podi/ coriander seed Podi:

Ingredients:

  • Coriander seeds – 1 cup
  • Split channa dhal – ½ cup
  • Urad dhal – ½ cup
  • Whole pepper corns – 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  • Salt – to taste.

Procedure:

  • Dry roast the split channa dhal and urad dhal for about 4-5 mins or until the raw smell goes off and transfer it into a bowl
  • Dry roast coriander seeds for about 2-3 mins under medium flame and transfer it into a bowl
  • Dry roast the whole pepper and cumin seeds for about 1-2 mins under medium flame and transfer it into a bowl

  • Cool completely and grind it coarse fine along with some salt.
  • Healthy and tasty “Jeerana Podi” is ready.

Rice Mixing Procedure:

  • Heat a tblsp of gingelly oil, add 2 tblsp of Jeerana Podi and fresh curry leaves, saute for a min and turn off the heat.
  • Now add a cup of warm rice into the mixture and mix gently.
  • Add salt if desired.
  • Enjoy the healthy and tasty “Jeerana Podi Sadam/Rice” as it is or with some thuvayal.

Note:

  • Store it in clean and dry glass/ air tight container for more shelf life
  • You can keep this podi over the counter for more than 2 weeks.
  • Always grind a small amount of podi varieties, so that you can enjoy the fresh taste and flavor.
  • You can have this Jeerana podi weekly once, it will helps to improve your appetite and digestion.
  • You can even take this podi during pregnancy.
