This is the month of Chithirai, the first month of tamil solar calendar and Tamil New year typically falls on Apr 14th, Since the Tamil month called Chithirai , people celebrated this occassion as Chithirai Thriuvizha/ Chithirai Kani. On this special day, people have the custom of the offering chithirai kani to God. Like, three prominent fruits are Mango, Jackfruit and banana (Mukkani in tamil (Maa, Pala, Vazhai)) followed by any gold/ silver jewelry beetel leaves, beetal nut, flowers, coins/money and a mirror in a tray.
This festive tray considered to be very auspicious on this occasion.
