Valaikappu/seemantham

The function organized by the elders of the home for the welfare of an expectant is during her pregnancy period is called as Valaikappu or Seemantham .Valaikaappu is performed during the odd months of pregnancy(7^th /9^th month) and Seemantham is performed during the even months of pregnancy(6^th /8^th month)

Seemantham refers to a separation of hair above the eyebrow where the Goddess of Wealth “Sri Mahalakshmi” exists. Applying kum kum to this parting in order to favor Goddess Sri Lakshmi whereas when a woman delivers a child, she is considered the personification of the Goddess Lakshmi herself.

At the time of pregnancy this is performed for the health and wealth of born Baby and also for normal delivery.an astrologer prescribes ritualistic remedies for the protection of the mother and child as well as for smooth child birth in the event of any astrological obstacles.
Then, the pregnant lady visits four temples, including her own ancestral temple and prays to the deities for a healthy child and for a safe delivery.

  • Fruits – Banana,Apple ,orange,Pineapple,pomegranate(5/7 as u wish)
