//Black Urad dhal Sundal//
Ingredients:
- Karuppu ulundhu – ½ cup
- Grated coconut – 2 tblsp
- Cumin seeds –1 tsp
- Black peppercorn- ½ tsp
- Water – as req
- Salt – as req
To temper:
- Gingelly oil – 1 tblsp
- Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
- Dry red chili – 2 nos
- Asafetida – ½ tsp
- Curry leaves – few
Procedure:
- Wash and soak the black urad dhal for about 6-7 hours
- Pressure cook it for about 2-3 whistles along with ½ tsp of salt
- Heat a tblsp of gingelly oil and add the mustard seeds and allow it to splutter
- Add the broken dry red chili, asafetida, curry leaves and boiled urad dhal; mix well and add few pinches of salt with grated coconut
- Meanwhile, grind the unroasted cumin seeds and black peppercorns coarsely and add it into the sundal mixture; toss it well.
