Orange Shortbread

Ingredients:

  • All-Purpose flour – 2 ¼ cup
  • Granulated Sugar – ½ cup
  • Unsalted Butter – 1 cup
  • Salt – a pinch
  • Orange Zest – 1 tblsp
  • Orange Juice – 2 tblsp

Powdered Sugar Glaze:

  • Powdered Sugar – 1 cup
  • Orange Juice – 2-3 tblsp
  • Orange Food Color – few drops

Procedure:

  • Pre heat the oven to 300 degree F
  • In a wide mixing bowl, beat the unsalted room temperature butter and sugar until they are just combined.
  • Now add the sieved flour, salt along with 2 tblsp of orange juice. Mix on low speed until the dough starts to come together.
  • Dump the dough onto the floured surface and shape into a flat disk.
  • Wrap the dough into the plastic wrap and refrigerate it at least for 30 mins.
  • Roll the dough half inch thick and dust the desired shape cookie cutter and press it over the rolled dough and place it gently over ungreased sheet pan.

  • Bake it for 20-25 mins and cool completely. Store it in an air tight container for more life.

  • The Super-Buttery, Orangy, tasty “ORANGE SHORTBREAD”  is ready to serve.
