Ingredients:
- Chopped Fresh Beans – 1 cup
- Salt – to taste
To Soak and Grind:
- Split channa Dhal – ½ cup
- Toor dhal – 1 tblsp
- Dry red chili – 1 no
- Green chili – 1 no
- Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Tempering:
- Mild cooking oil – 2 tblsp
- Mustards seeds – 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
- Asafetida – 1 tsp
- Curry leaves – few
Procedure:
- Soak the split channa, toor dhal, dry red chili and cumin seeds for about 2 hours.
- Drain out the excess water and grind it coarsely along with green chili and required amount of salt. ( as shown in the pic)
- Using idli pot/ steamer, steam the grounded mixture and chopped beans separately for about 5-8 mins. (shown in the pic)
- Once the dhal is cooked, crumble the dhal when it is warm (as shown in the pic)
- Heat some oil in a pan, add mustards seeds and cumin seeds. Allow it to splutter, later add asafetida and some curry leaves.
- Now, add the crumbled dhal mixture. Saute it for about 3-4 mins and add the steamed beans into it. Add required amount of salt and saute further for about 4-5 mins under medium-low flame.
- Protein rich, healthy and delicious “Beans Paruppu Usili” is ready to serve.
