Ribbon Pakoda

Ingredients:

  • Idiyappam flour/ rice flour – 1 cup
  • Besan flour/ kadalaimavu – ¾ cup
  • Roasted gram flour – 2 tblsp
  • Softened butter – 1 tblsp
  • Coarsely grounded pepper – 1 tsp
  • Crushed garlic – ½ tsp
  • Asafetida – ½ tsp
  • Salt – as req
  • Water – as req
  • Oil- to deep fry

Procedure:

  • In a wide mixing bowl add all the ingredients except water and oil
  • Add water little by little to form a soft stiff dough.
  • In a wide sauce pan add required amount of oil to deep fry
  • Apply some oil to the pakoda press, inserted ribbon mold.
  • Press the dough in a circular way into the hot oil, do not over crowd the pan.
  • Allow it to cook for few seconds and flip it around gently, once the sizzle sounds off
  • Place the crispy ribbon pakodas over the paper towel to drain off excess oil.
  • Cool completely and store it in an air tight container.
