This ceremony takes place mostly in your KULA DEIVEM temple and this follows through generations.
Birth hair removal
This ceremony the baby should/must sit on his/her MATERNAL UNCLE’s (THAI MAMA) LAP those who don’t have Thai Mama then he should replace by Maternal Grandfather. This ceremony usually done at the age of one. Now it has changed a lot due to work and some other priority. The first hair removal is considered to be sacrifice to GOD especially if some good omen has taken place.
Post the hair is shaven off, the baby take bath and sandalwood paste should apply on his/her bald head to keep the baby’s head cool from the hot sun.
Ear Piercing (Kadhu Kuthal)
On the same day of hair removal we will perform the Ear piercing function too. Same as hair removal for the ear piercing also the baby should sit on his/her MATERNAL UNCLE’S lap.
After ear piercing we take the baby to the temple and finish it off with prayers and abhishekam. Later we offer lunch followed by anna dhanam.
